5 Former Celtic Players That Will Make You Say; ‘That’s Not Paul McStay’
- Mark Burchill — Played for Celtic from 1998–2001, scoring one of the fastest-ever hat-tricks in European club competition history. He was not Paul McStay.
2. Stanislav Varga — Stan the man, big Stan, the Varg, or just Stanley Varga, the big Slovenian (Slovakian?!) was a loyal servant to Celtic from 2003–2006. He’s now coaching a team that is not Celtic, and the big man is still to this day NOT Paul McStay, can’t stress that enough guys.
3. Ross Wallace — I had no clue this guy played for Celtic, I know fuck all about him. Was he a midfielder, was he a defender?! I have no clue. There is one undeniable fact here though; he is not Paul McStay.
4. Adam Virgo — Who can forget the man that left it all on the pitch for Celtic, Adam John Virgo. He sweat, he bled, and it paid off as the Englishman was awarded ‘Man of the Match’ in only his second start for Celtic by the official club website AND Setanta. His imperious displays left fans wanting more, but unfortunately he was edged out by livewire signing Du Wei — A hard act to follow. Adam made the most of his time in the hoops and the fans received him warmly, although his relations with the club were soured when Adam was attacked by a burglar and he blamed the club for handling the situation poorly. Something the fans seen, quite rightly, as being right out of fucking order. He never quite became Paul McStay after this. Best of luck with your career Adam, you’ve got something inside so strong.
5. Oliver Tebily — Not Paul McStay. Are we going to have a debate about this? He’s not Paul McStay, and that’s all I have to say about this.
